I had an interesting conversation with Allison this morning. It went something like this:
Mom: "Ok, princess, let's get dressed and ready for school. What do you think you'll do at school today?"
Allison: "I don't know, I'm too tired right now to think....Mrs. Boggs said she liked my hair. She said 'Wow, that's cute.' I like her. And, Mrs. Taylor. But, (Mrs.) Taylor was gone yesterday so it was (Mrs.) Pearl instead. I like her too."
Mom: "Yes, they are all nice ladies, aren't they?"
Allison: "MOM, they aren't ladies. Theyr'e TEACHERS!"
Mom: "Well, can't teachers be ladies too?"
Allison: "NO! They just can't be."
Mom: "Ok, let's go girl, it's time to eat."
Allison: "Mom! I'm not a girl, I'm a princess. You said!"
Mom: "Ooookay...."
Allison: "I have an owie (lifting shirt) and here's the bandaid. Blood is red, even on princesses. But, it will get better and then there will be no more blood."
Mom: "Okay, let's go eat. What do you want?"
Allison: "Chocolate cake."
