Happy 2009 to everyone!
To start off with, we have new quotes from (yes, you guessed it) Matthew.
Our first quote was from a situation involving the Wii. Allison, in her exhuberance to bowl as well as Grandma Irma, threw the Wii remote. Shockingly, she'd forgotten to put the wrist strap on. It thankfully missed the television, but it also got her banned for the day from any more Wii playing. She came up and told me about it (although, I heard it happen). About 20 seconds later, Matthew came up to tattle on Allison and tell me what she did. I let him finish his tattling, and then started the conversation...
"Matthew," I said, "Allison already told me what happened. Are you being a tattle-tail?"
"NO! I don't have a tail."
"But, Matthew, you are tattling on your sister. That makes you a tattle-tail."
"NO, it don't!!!" Pulling his pants down to show me his butt, he points and exclaims triumphantly, "See, I don't have a tail. There's no tail. Only a butt."
Our second quote came when Matthew walked outside to say goodbye to our neighbor Mr. Paul. As he's waving goodbye, he all of sudden says,
"Look! It's my friend."
I look and see that he's pointing at the moon. So, I said, "Matthew, that's the moon."
Matthew, displaying an expression often shown by his sisters - the one that you give to someone who is monumentally stupid -replies, "Yes!" (eye-roll) "It's my FRIEND, the MOON."
In other news, Girl Scout Cookie selling season has begun (stop screaming, it's not that bad!) The girls were out the first day of the sale...walking up and down hills, in rain and shine, showing big smiles and selling cookies with stunning sales pitches like, "Hey, ummm, do you want to buy cookies?" or, "We're girl scouts. Guess what we're selling?" Our goal is the same as last year - each of them sells 75 boxes to get a patch. Mom can't wait to get to that goal. It takes a LONG TIME to walk our neighborhood (especially when we have Matthew - who we dress in a festive Brownie shirt and green Girl Scout hat - hey, it's better than the tutu).
